Robert HoneysuckerBaritone Robert Honeysucker is recognized internationally for his brilliant opera, concert and recital performances. His voice has inspired critical acclaim: " powerful, passionate and plaintive ... a voice that possesses great richness and warmth." Honored as 1995 "Musician of the Year" by The Boston Glove critic Richard Dyer, Mr. Honeysucker has also been a winner of the National Opera Association Artists Competition and a recipient of the New England Opera Club Jacopo Peri Award. Overseas, opera performances have brought Mr. Honeysucker to Auckland, New Zealand, where he has sung numerous roles at the Mercury Theatre, including Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni), Figaro (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Sharpless (Madame Butterfly) and Porgy (Porgy and Bess). Among his numerous performances with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Honeysucker has appeared in the role of Keeper in Rakes Progress, and as bass soloist in Beethovenヘs Ninth Symphony, conducted by Seiji Ozawa, in celebration of his twenty-fifth season as Music Director. Mr. Honeysucker has been a member of the Bach Aria Group and Videmus, and is a member and co-founder of the Jubilee Trio (with Marion Dry and Leslie Amper), which presents American art songs, including those of under- performed African American composers.
